10,000 Maniacs is an American alternative rock band that was formed in 1981 in Jamestown, New York. The band's original members were lead vocalist Natalie Merchant, John Lombardo on guitar, Rob Buck on guitar, Steven Gustafson on bass, and Dennis Drew on keyboards. Over the years, the band has gone through several lineup changes with Merchant departing in 1993.
Despite the changes, 10,000 Maniacs achieved commercial success with their albums like "In My Tribe" and "Blind Man's Zoo" in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They are known for their folk-influenced sound, introspective lyrics, and Merchant's distinctive vocals. The band continues to tour and release music with Mary Ramsey as their lead vocalist since 1993.
