The 5 Stairsteps, also known as The Five Stairsteps, were an American family group from Chicago, Illinois, consisting of five siblings: Alohe, Clarence Jr., James, Dennis, and Kenneth "Cubie" Burke. The group was active in the 1960s and 1970s and is best known for their hit songs "O-o-h Child" and "You Waited Too Long."
Cubie Burke, born Kenneth Burke, was a member of the 5 Stairsteps and also pursued a solo career in music. He contributed vocals to the group's recordings and performances. The 5 Stairsteps and Cubie were part of the soul and R&B music scene of their time and made significant contributions to the genre with their harmonious vocals and catchy melodies.
