The band's original lineup consisted of Mike Score (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Ali Score (drums), Frank Maudsley (bass), and Paul Reynolds (guitar). They are best known for their hit single "I Ran (So Far Away)" from their debut album, which was released in 1982 and reached the top 10 in several countries. The band is also recognized for their distinctive hairstyles, particularly Mike Score's asymmetrical haircut.
A Flock of Seagulls achieved commercial success in the 1980s with their innovative sound and music videos that were popular on MTV. They released several albums throughout the decade before disbanding in 1986. The band has experienced various lineup changes over the years, but Mike Score has remained a constant member and continues to perform under the A Flock of Seagulls name.
