A Tribe Called Quest is an American hip hop group formed in 1985 in Queens, New York City. The group consists of members Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White. They are known for their unique blend of jazz, funk, and socially conscious lyrics, which helped to shape the sound of alternative hip hop in the 1990s.


A Tribe Called Quest released five studio albums between 1990 and 2016, with their most successful album, "The Low End Theory," being released in 1991. The group is considered one of the pioneers of alternative hip hop and is highly influential in the genre. They are known for hits such as "Can I Kick It?", "Scenario," and "Award Tour." A Tribe Called Quest disbanded in 1998 but reunited in 2006 and continued to perform and release music until Phife Dawg's death in 2016.
