Hirt achieved commercial success with his album "Honey in the Horn," which reached the top 10 on the Billboard charts in 1963. He won a Grammy Award for his instrumental performance on the song "Java" in 1964. Hirt was also known for his frequent appearances on television, including on programs like "The Ed Sullivan Show" and "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson." He continued to perform and record music until his death in 1999, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most popular and influential trumpet players of his time.
