Martino's career also included appearances in films such as "The Godfather" where he played the role of Johnny Fontane, a singer and godson of the mafia boss.
In addition to his music and acting career, Al Martino was a successful concert performer, touring extensively throughout the United States and around the world. He was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1965. Martino's rich baritone voice and romantic ballads made him a popular artist in the 1960s and 1970s. He passed away on October 13, 2009, in Springfield, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of music and film.
