Al Martino was an American singer and actor, born on October 7, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his hit song "Spanish Eyes" which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966. Martino's career also included appearances in films such as "The Godfather" where he played the role of Johnny Fontane, a singer and godson of the mafia boss.


In addition to his music and acting career, Al Martino was a successful concert performer, touring extensively throughout the United States and around the world. He was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1965. Martino's rich baritone voice and romantic ballads made him a popular artist in the 1960s and 1970s. He passed away on October 13, 2009, in Springfield, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of music and film.
