Al Martino was an American singer and actor, born on October 7, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his hit song "Here in My Heart," which was released in 1952 and became the first number one single on the UK Singles Chart. Martino continued to have success with several other popular songs, including "Spanish Eyes" and "I Love You Because."
In addition to his music career, Martino also had a successful acting career, appearing in films such as "The Godfather" in 1972, where he played the role of Johnny Fontane. He also appeared in various television shows and stage productions throughout his career. Al Martino passed away on October 13, 2009, leaving behind a legacy as a talented singer and actor.
