Al Martino, born Alfred Cini on October 7, 1927, was an American singer and actor. He was best known for his hit songs such as "Here in My Heart" which was his debut single in 1952 and became the first number one single on the UK Singles Chart. Martino continued to have success with other popular songs including "Spanish Eyes" and "Volare".
In addition to his music career, Martino also ventured into acting, landing roles in films such as "The Godfather" where he played the character of Johnny Fontane. He received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the film. Throughout his career, Al Martino sold millions of records and was known for his smooth, romantic vocal style that endeared him to audiences worldwide. He passed away on October 13, 2009, leaving behind a legacy in both music and film.
