Al Martino was an American singer and actor, born on October 7, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his hit song "Here in My Heart," which was the first number one single on the UK Singles Chart in 1952. Martino's smooth, romantic voice made him a popular crooner in the 1950s and 1960s, with other notable songs including "Spanish Eyes" and "Volare."
In addition to his music career, Martino also found success as an actor, appearing in films such as "The Godfather" (1972) and its sequels, where he played the character of Johnny Fontane. Throughout his career, Martino released over 30 studio albums and continued to perform live until his passing on October 13, 2009, in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
