Al Martino was an American singer and actor, born on October 7, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He gained fame as a crooner with a smooth, romantic voice and was best known for his hit song "Spanish Eyes," which reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966. Martino also had a number one hit with the song "Here in My Heart" in 1952, making him the first American artist to have a number one single in the UK.


In addition to his successful music career, Martino also ventured into acting, appearing in films such as "The Godfather" in 1972, where he played the character Johnny Fontane. He continued to perform and record music throughout his career, releasing numerous albums and singles. Al Martino passed away on October 13, 2009, in Springfield, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of timeless music and memorable performances.
