Al Wilson was an American soul singer and songwriter born on June 19, 1939, in Meridian, Mississippi. He is best known for his 1968 hit song "The Snake," which reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Wilson's distinctive voice and energetic stage presence earned him a loyal following in the soul music scene during the late 1960s and early 1970s.


In addition to "The Snake," Al Wilson had several other charting singles, including "Show and Tell" which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1973.
