Alabama is a country music band formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969. The band originally consisted of Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, vocals), Teddy Gentry (bass, vocals), and Mark Herndon (drums). They found great success in the 1980s and 1990s, becoming one of the most successful country bands in history. Alabama has released over 30 albums and had more than 40 number one singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. They are known for hits such as "Mountain Music", "Song of the South", and "Dixieland Delight". Alabama has won numerous awards, including multiple Grammys and Country Music Association Awards. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.


Alabama disbanded in 2004 but reunited in 2010 for a new album and tour. They continue to perform and record music, with a focus on their classic hits and new material. Alabama's music is characterized by their blend of country, rock, and pop influences, as well as their tight harmonies and skilled musicianship. They have left a lasting impact on the country music genre and have a dedicated fan base that continues to support their music.
