Alabama is an American country music band formed in 1969 in Fort Payne, Alabama. The band's original members were Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Teddy Gentry (bass, vocals), and Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle, vocals). Over the years, the band has had several other members join and leave but the core trio of Owen, Gentry, and Cook has remained constant.
Alabama achieved massive success in the 1980s and 1990s, becoming one of the most successful bands in country music history. They have had over 30 number one hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and have won numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards and Country Music Association Awards. Alabama was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Their music often featured themes of love, family, and the American South.
