The band originally consisted of Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Teddy Gentry (bass guitar, vocals), and Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle, vocals). Mark Herndon later joined the band as their drummer. Alabama is known for their blend of country music with rock and pop elements, and they achieved major success in the 1980s and 1990s. They have had over 27 number one hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and have sold over 75 million records worldwide. Alabama has won numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, Country Music Association Awards, and Academy of Country Music Awards. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
