Albert Hammond is a British singer, songwriter, and record producer born on May 18, 1944, in London, England. He is best known for his successful solo career in the 1970s and 1980s, with hit songs such as "It Never Rains in Southern California" and "The Free Electric Band." Hammond has also written and produced songs for various artists, including Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, and Julio Iglesias.


In addition to his solo work, Albert Hammond has collaborated with other musicians, forming the band The Family Dogg in the late 1960s. He has received several awards for his songwriting, including a Grammy Award for the song "When I Need You," which he co-wrote with Carole Bayer Sager. Hammond continues to perform and write music, maintaining a successful career spanning over five decades.
