Sherman is best known for his comedy albums that parodied popular songs of the time, with his most famous album being "My Son, the Folk Singer," released in 1962. The album became a surprise hit, reaching the number one spot on the Billboard charts and earning Sherman a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album.
Sherman continued to release successful comedy albums throughout the 1960s, including "My Son, the Celebrity" and "My Son, the Nut." He also wrote the theme song for the hit TV show "I've Got a Secret" and co-created and produced the television game show "I'm Telling!"
