Alvin Robinson was an American singer and musician born in New Orleans in 1937. He was known for his soulful voice and versatile musical style, which combined elements of R&B, soul, and rock and roll. Robinson began his music career in the 1950s, recording a series of singles for various record labels before gaining wider recognition in the 1960s.
Robinson is perhaps best known for his hit song "Down Home Girl," which was released in 1964 and later covered by The Rolling Stones. Throughout his career, Robinson collaborated with a number of well-known artists, including Dr. John and Lee Dorsey. Despite his talent and critical acclaim, Robinson never achieved mainstream success, and he passed away in 1989 at the age of 52. Despite his relatively short career, Alvin Robinson's music continues to be celebrated by fans of soul and R&B music.
