Amel Larrieux is an American singer-songwriter who was born on March 8, 1973, in New York City. She began her music career in the duo Groove Theory alongside Bryce Wilson in the mid-1990s. The duo released their self-titled debut album in 1995, which included the hit single "Tell Me."
After the duo disbanded, Larrieux embarked on a solo career and released her debut album, "Infinite Possibilities," in 2000. Known for her soulful voice and eclectic sound that blends R&B, jazz, and neo-soul, Larrieux has continued to release music as a solo artist. Some of her popular solo songs include "Get Up," "For Real," and "Afraid." Larrieux has also collaborated with various artists such as The Roots, Guru, and Eric Benét.
