Aretha Franklin, born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist who became known as the "Queen of Soul." She began her career singing gospel music in her father's church and went on to achieve great success in the music industry. Franklin signed with Columbia Records in 1960 and later with Atlantic Records, where she released a series of hit songs and albums that solidified her as a music icon.


Her powerful voice and emotional delivery earned her numerous accolades, including 18 Grammy Awards. Some of her most famous songs include "Respect," "Think," and "Natural Woman." Franklin was also the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Throughout her career, she sold over 75 million records worldwide and was known for her contributions to civil rights causes. Aretha Franklin passed away on August 16, 2018, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the greatest singers of all time.
