Aretha Franklin, born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist who became known as the "Queen of Soul." She began her career singing gospel music in her father's church and later signed with Columbia Records in 1960. Franklin achieved commercial success and critical acclaim with hits such as "Respect," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and "Think."


Throughout her career, Franklin won 18 Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, and was the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
