Aretha Franklin, born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist who is widely regarded as the "Queen of Soul." Franklin began her career as a child singing gospel music at her father's church and went on to achieve massive success in the music industry. She signed with Columbia Records in 1960 and later moved to Atlantic Records, where she released some of her most iconic hits.


Throughout her career, Franklin won a total of 18 Grammy Awards and sold over 75 million records worldwide. Some of her most famous songs include "Respect," "Think," and "Natural Woman." Franklin was also the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. She passed away on August 16, 2018, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest singers of all time.
