Aretha Franklin, born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist who became known as the "Queen of Soul." She began her music career as a gospel singer in her father's church before signing with Columbia Records in 1960. Franklin achieved commercial success and critical acclaim with hits such as "Respect," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and "Think."


Throughout her career, Franklin won 18 Grammy Awards, including the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994. She was the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Aretha Franklin's powerful voice, emotional delivery, and ability to blend gospel, R&B, and soul music solidified her as one of the greatest singers of all time. Franklin passed away on August 16, 2018, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
