Aretha Franklin, born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an iconic American singer and songwriter known as the "Queen of Soul." She began her music career singing gospel music in her father's church and went on to achieve great success in the secular music industry. Franklin signed with Columbia Records in 1960 and later moved to Atlantic Records, where she produced some of her most famous hits.


Throughout her career, Franklin released numerous chart-topping singles, including "Respect," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and "Think." She won 18 Grammy Awards and was the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Franklin's powerful voice and soulful delivery made her one of the greatest singers of all time, and she is considered a pioneer of soul music. She passed away on August 16, 2018, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
