Aretha Franklin, born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist who became known as the "Queen of Soul." She began her music career singing gospel music at her father's church before signing with Columbia Records in 1960. Franklin's career took off when she switched to Atlantic Records in the mid-1960s, where she released a string of hit songs including "Respect," "Chain of Fools," and "Think."


Throughout her career, Franklin won a total of 18 Grammy Awards and was the first female performer to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She was known for her powerful vocals and ability to infuse emotion into her music, making her one of the greatest singers of all time. Aretha Franklin passed away on August 16, 2018, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking music that continues to inspire audiences around the world.
