Art Garfunkel is an American singer, poet, and actor born on November 5, 1941, in Queens, New York City. He is best known for being one half of the folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, along with Paul Simon. The duo rose to fame in the 1960s with hits like "The Sound of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson," and "Bridge Over Troubled Water."


Garfunkel's distinctive countertenor voice and harmonies contributed to the duo's success. He also released solo albums, with his debut album "Angel Clare" reaching the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. In addition to his music career, Garfunkel has appeared in films such as "Carnal Knowledge" and "Catch-22." He has received multiple Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of Simon & Garfunkel.
