Arthur Conley was an American soul singer born on January 4, 1946, in McIntosh County, Georgia. He is best known for his hit song "Sweet Soul Music," which was released in 1967 and reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was a tribute to soul music legends such as Sam Cooke, Lou Rawls, and Wilson Pickett.
Conley began his music career in the early 1960s, recording for the Otis Redding's record label, Fame Studios. He went on to release several other singles and albums throughout his career, including "Funky Street" and "Shake, Rattle & Roll." Conley's soulful voice and energetic performances earned him a loyal fan base and solidified his place in the history of soul music. Tragically, Conley passed away on November 17, 2003, at the age of 57.
