They were known for their success as a prolific songwriting team in the Motown genre during the 1960s and 1970s. The duo wrote a number of hit songs for artists like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, and Chaka Khan. Some of their most famous compositions include "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "You're All I Need to Get By."

In addition to their songwriting success, Ashford & Simpson also had a successful recording career as a duo. They released several albums and scored hits with songs like "Solid" and "Found a Cure."
