Atlanta Rhythm Section is an American southern rock band formed in Doraville, Georgia in 1970. The band's original lineup consisted of members from two pre-existing groups, the Candymen and the Classics IV. The founding members were Rodney Justo (vocals), Barry Bailey (guitar), Paul Goddard (bass), Dean Daughtry (keyboards), Robert Nix (drums), and J.R. Cobb (guitar).


Atlanta Rhythm Section achieved commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as "So Into You," "Imaginary Lover," and "Spooky." They were known for their smooth sound blending elements of southern rock, country, and pop. The band released numerous albums throughout their career and continued to tour and perform live shows. Despite changes in the lineup over the years, Atlanta Rhythm Section remains a well-respected and influential band in the southern rock genre.
