Band Aid 30 was a charity supergroup formed in 2014 to raise funds for the fight against the Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa. The group was a reformation of the original Band Aid that was created in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. Band Aid 30 featured a lineup of popular British and Irish musicians, including One Direction, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and Rita Ora.
Their rendition of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" was released in November 2014 and reached #63 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song, written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, was a modern update of the original 1984 version with new lyrics addressing the Ebola crisis. Band Aid 30's collaboration was a successful fundraising effort, raising significant awareness and donations for the cause.
