Do They Know It's Christmas?

Band-Aid is actually a charity supergroup founded by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in 1984. The group was formed to raise money for anti-poverty efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the single "Do They Know It's Christmas?". The song featured some of the biggest British and Irish musical acts of the time, including members of Duran Duran, U2, Wham!, and Queen. The single was a massive success, becoming the best-selling single in UK chart history at the time and raising millions of pounds for famine relief.

Following the success of the Band-Aid single, other charity supergroups like USA for Africa and Live Aid were formed to address global issues through music. Band-Aid has since released multiple versions of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in 1989, 2004, and 2014, featuring new generations of artists and continuing to raise money for various charitable causes.
