Artist Bio:
The Bar-Kays are an American soul and funk band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1966. Originally a session band for Stax Records, they gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s for their energetic live performances and a string of hits including "Soul Finger" and "Son of Shaft". Tragically, most of the band members were killed in a plane crash in 1967, with only two surviving members carrying on the band's legacy.
After the tragedy, the Bar-Kays rebuilt their lineup and continued to release successful albums and singles throughout the 1970s and 1980s. They were known for their high-energy performances, catchy hooks, and tight instrumentation. The Bar-Kays have continued to tour and perform to this day, cementing their status as influential figures in the soul and funk music genres.
