Barbara Fairchild is an American country music singer who was born on November 12, 1950, in Lafe, Arkansas. She is best known for her hit song "The Teddy Bear Song," which topped the country charts in 1973. Fairchild began her music career by performing in local clubs and radio shows before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a professional singing career.


In addition to "The Teddy Bear Song," Fairchild had several other charting singles in the 1970s and 1980s, including "Kid Stuff" and "Cheatin' Is." She also released multiple albums during her career, including "A Sweeter Love" and "Standing in Your Line." Fairchild received several award nominations throughout her career, including a Grammy nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. She continues to perform and record music, showcasing her distinct voice and traditional country sound.
