She is best known for her hit songs in the 1960s, such as "Hello Stranger" and "Baby I'm Yours." Lewis was discovered by record producer Ollie McLaughlin, who signed her to his small label, Atlantic Records.


"Hello Stranger" was released in 1963 and became a major hit, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song showcased Lewis's soulful voice and became her signature song. In addition to her successful music career, Barbara Lewis is also known for writing many of her own songs, including "Hello Stranger."
