Barbara Lynn is an American rhythm and blues and electric blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. She was born on January 16, 1942, in Beaumont, Texas. Lynn is best known for her 1962 hit song "You'll Lose a Good Thing," which reached number 1 on the Billboard R&B chart and number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She is considered one of the first female guitarists to have success in the male-dominated world of blues music. Lynn's unique style of playing left-handed guitar upside down, combined with her soulful voice, set her apart from other artists of her time.
Throughout her career, Barbara Lynn has released several albums and singles showcasing her talents as a musician and songwriter. She continues to perform live and record music, earning her a well-deserved place in the history of blues and R&B music. Lynn's contributions to the music industry have been recognized with inductions into the Gulf Coast Hall of Fame and the Austin Music Hall of Fame.
