Artist Bio:
Barbara Mandrell is an American country music singer, musician, and actress, born on December 25, 1948, in Houston, Texas. She began her music career at a young age, learning to play the accordion, steel guitar, and saxophone. Mandrell achieved success in the country music industry during the 1970s and 1980s, with hits such as "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool" and "Sleeping Single in a Double Bed."


Mandrell was the first artist to win the Country Music Association's "Entertainer of the Year" award twice, in 1980 and 1981. She also became the first female country artist to sell out a solo concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden. In addition to her music career, Mandrell appeared in films and television shows, including her own variety show, "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters," which aired from 1980 to 1982. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
