Artist Bio:
Barrett Strong is an American singer and songwriter, born on February 5, 1941, in West Point, Mississippi. He is best known for being one of the first artists to record for Motown Records and for his contributions to the development of the label's signature sound. Strong's most notable work includes his hit song "Money (That's What I Want)," which he co-wrote with Berry Gordy in 1959. The song was a major success and has since been covered by numerous artists.


In addition to his own music career, Strong also collaborated with other Motown artists, including writing songs for The Temptations, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and Marvin Gaye. His songwriting talents played a significant role in shaping the Motown sound of the 1960s. Strong was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004, recognizing his contributions to the music industry.
