Basia Trzetrzelewska, known mononymously as Basia, is a Polish singer-songwriter and record producer born on September 30, 1954, in Jaworzno, Poland. She gained international fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a solo artist, known for her sophisticated pop and jazz-influenced sound. Basia began her music career as a member of the British pop band Matt Bianco, before embarking on a successful solo career.

Basia released her debut solo album, "Time and Tide," in 1987, which spawned the hit singles "Promises" and "Time and Tide." Her subsequent albums, "London Warsaw New York" (1989) and "The Sweetest Illusion" (1994), also achieved commercial success.
