The Bay City Rollers were a Scottish pop band formed in Edinburgh in 1966. The group achieved international success in the mid-1970s with their catchy pop tunes and distinctive tartan outfits. They were known for their clean-cut image and were often referred to as "the tartan teen sensations from Edinburgh."
The band's most popular lineup consisted of Les McKeown, Eric Faulkner, Stuart Wood, Alan Longmuir, and Derek Longmuir. Their biggest hits include "Saturday Night," "Shang-a-Lang," and "Bye Bye Baby." The Bay City Rollers were part of the 1970s glam rock and teenybopper music scene and had a dedicated fan following known as the "Roller-mania." Despite their initial success, the band faced internal conflicts and lineup changes over the years before officially disbanding in the 1980s.
