B.B. King, born Riley B. King on September 16, 1925, was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. King began his career in the 1940s and achieved mainstream success in the 1960s with hits like "The Thrill is Gone" and "Every Day I Have the Blues." He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
Throughout his career, B.B. King won numerous awards, including 15 Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was a highly influential figure in the world of blues music and is often referred to as the "King of the Blues." B.B. King continued to perform and record music well into his later years, and his legacy lives on as one of the greatest blues musicians of all time. He passed away on May 14, 2015, at the age of 89.
