Ben Colder was actually a comedic alter ego of the country music artist, Sheb Wooley. Wooley created the character in the 1960s as a parody of country music singers. Under the name Ben Colder, Wooley released several albums of humorous country songs, often with satirical lyrics and exaggerated vocal performances. Some of his most well-known songs include "Almost Persuaded No. 2" and "Don't Go Near the Eskimos."
Ben Colder's music was popular on country music radio and even charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
