King began his music career in the late 1950s as a member of the Drifters, where he achieved success with songs like "Save the Last Dance for Me" and "This Magic Moment."
In 1960, King left the Drifters to pursue a solo career and signed with Atco Records. His most famous solo single, "Stand by Me," was released in 1961 and became a timeless classic, reaching the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. King continued to release music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, with songs like "Supernatural Thing" and "Do It in the Name of Love." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Drifters in 1988. Ben E. King passed away on April 30, 2015, leaving behind a legacy of soulful and iconic music.
