Artist Bio:
Ben E. King was an American soul and R&B singer born on September 28, 1938, in Henderson, North Carolina. He is best known for his classic song "Stand by Me," which was released in 1961 and became a major hit, reaching the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song has since been covered by numerous artists and featured in various movies, TV shows, and commercials.


King started his music career as a member of the Drifters in the late 1950s before going solo in 1960. In addition to "Stand by Me," some of his other notable songs include "Spanish Harlem" and "Don't Play That Song (You Lied)." Ben E. King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Drifters in 1988 and as a solo artist in 2015. He passed away on April 30, 2015, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential artist in the world of soul and R&B music.
