King began his music career as a member of the Drifters before launching a successful solo career in the 1960s.
"Stand by Me," released in 1961, remains King's most iconic song and has been covered by numerous artists over the years. The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Throughout his career, King received several accolades, including being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Drifters in 1988. Ben E. King passed away on April 30, 2015, but his music continues to be celebrated and remembered as a timeless contribution to the world of soul and R&B music.
