Artist Bio:
Ben E. King, born Benjamin Earl Nelson, was an American soul and R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born on September 28, 1938, in Henderson, North Carolina, and grew up in Harlem, New York. King rose to fame as the lead singer of the Drifters, known for hits like "Save the Last Dance for Me" and "This Magic Moment."


In 1960, Ben E. King embarked on a solo career and achieved major success with his iconic song "Stand by Me," released in 1961. The song became a timeless classic and a signature tune for King. Throughout his career, King continued to produce hits such as "Spanish Harlem" and "Don't Play That Song (You Lied)." Ben E. King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Drifters in 1988 and also as a solo artist in 2015. He passed away on April 30, 2015, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
