Ben E. King was an American soul and R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer born on September 28, 1938, in Henderson, North Carolina. He is best known for his classic song "Stand by Me," which was released in 1961 and became a timeless hit. King was a member of the vocal group The Drifters, where he began his music career before embarking on a successful solo career.


In addition to "Stand by Me," Ben E. King had other notable hits such as "Spanish Harlem" and "Save the Last Dance for Me." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Drifters in 1988 and as a solo artist in 2015. King passed away on April 30, 2015, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry with his soulful voice and unforgettable songs.
