Jerry Butler, born on December 8, 1939, in Mississippi, was known as the "Iceman" for his smooth and cool vocal style. He was a founding member of the R&B group The Impressions before pursuing a successful solo career. Butler had numerous hits, including "For Your Precious Love" and "Only the Strong Survive." He also ventured into songwriting and producing, contributing to the development of soul music.
