Artist Bio:
Big Bopper, whose real name was J.P. Richardson, was an American musician, songwriter, and disc jockey born on October 24, 1930, in Sabine Pass, Texas. He is best known for his hit song "Chantilly Lace," which was released in 1958 and became a rock and roll classic. Big Bopper's energetic and charismatic stage presence, along with his deep voice and catchy lyrics, helped him gain popularity during the early days of rock and roll.

Tragically, Big Bopper's promising career was cut short when he died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, along with fellow musicians Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. This event, known as "The Day the Music Died," had a profound impact on the music industry and rock and roll fans worldwide. Despite his untimely death at the age of 28, Big Bopper's music continues to be celebrated and remembered as an important part of the rock and roll era.
