Big Bopper, born Jiles Perry Richardson Jr., was an American musician, songwriter, and disc jockey. In addition to "Chantilly Lace," Big Bopper is also known for his songwriting skills, having penned hits for other artists. Tragically, his promising career was cut short when he died in a plane crash in 1959, along with fellow musicians Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. Despite his untimely death, Big Bopper's contributions to rock and roll continue to be celebrated and remembered to this day.
