Bill Black's Combo was a rock and roll band formed in the late 1950s by Bill Black, the bassist for Elvis Presley. The group was known for their instrumental rock music and had a series of hits in the early 1960s. Their biggest hit was "Smokie, Part 2," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1959. The band also had other successful singles such as "White Silver Sands" and "Josephine."


Bill Black's Combo was popular for their energetic live performances and their unique blend of rock and roll, R&B, and country music. The band released numerous albums throughout the 1960s and continued to perform until Bill Black's untimely death in 1965. Despite their relatively short career, Bill Black's Combo left a lasting impact on the music industry and is remembered as one of the pioneering instrumental rock bands of their time.
