Bill Deal & The Rhondels were an American musical group formed in 1965 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The band was led by Bill Deal, who played the Hammond organ and was the lead vocalist. The Rhondels were known for their unique blend of beach music, soul, and rock and roll, which earned them a dedicated following in the Southeastern United States during the 1960s and 1970s.
One of the band's biggest hits was "May I" in 1969, which reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They also had success with other singles such as "I've Been Hurt" and "What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am." Bill Deal & The Rhondels continued to perform and record music throughout the 1970s, and they were inducted into the Beach Music Hall of Fame in 1995.
